Though sex work may be known as the world's oldest profession, in the U.S. at least, centuries old stigma around the commodification of sex by individual proprietors has remained shrouded in shame and oppression. As sex workers have utilized technology and the online space to their advantage, however, we've seen increased visibility of the truly wide-range of people doing vastly different types of work that all fall under the umbrella of the sex industry. Still, the profession is rife with misinformation and obstacles to safety.
